Created in collaboration with artist Juliette Bonneviot,
Last Spring / Summer is a performative installation comprising large format inkjet prints, aquarium tanks and a drying-rack structure.
The inkjet prints are composed of four large strips featuring fragments of images sourced from cosmetics advertising. Bonneviot then paints and draws unique motives directly on the prints using a transparent varnish. The large format inkjet prints are then submerged in aquarium tanks for three weeks. Over this duration, the ink slowly dissolves in contact with water to reveal Bonneviot’s layered imagery.
During the course of its presentation, the installation requires lifting the prints from the water to a drying rack every three weeks, and replacing new, “undeveloped” prints into the tanks. All “undeveloped” prints required to cover the duration of the exhibition will be supplied in advance by the artists.
