| The inspiration for this set of scarves is derived from walking around my studio and home in the neighborhood of Friedrichshain, Berlin. Formerly part of the east Berlin, the neighborhood has seen a lot of leftist communes establish themselves in housing squats from the early 1990's following the fall of the Wall. With the aid of a portable scanner, I have captured the multiple layers of graffiti asserting strongly the presence of this autonomous movement that nevertheless tends to shrink around the locally known Rigaerstraße. | |
